Using a spark tester for isolating leaks or voids in plastic welding

When it comes to fabricating liquid containers, tanks or vessels, we take every precaution necessary to ensure the strength and reliability that we promise. Whether it be a 10,000 Litre chemical storage vessel for Sodium Hydroxide, or a 60 litre potable water tank for the caravan, all of our products that are designed to hold liquid are 'spark tested' to verify the integrity of every weld.

 

A high frequency, high voltage probe is passed near the weld with a grounded metal plate on the other side. A shower of sparks fall over the weld and reaches the plate if there is a void within the weld. This is the next best non-destructive method for testing plastic welds other than an x-ray machine or Fluoroscope. This high tech hardware, combined with our fabricators extensive experience and skill means that you can rely on CV-IPF to complete your project for the most demanding applications and to the strictest quality control measures.
